Thanks to Fred Fang for his excellent dance instruction the past several months. 

 

Beginning next Tuesday, we will welcome Bud Ayers as our new dance instructor.   Bud Ayers has taught previously at the Santa Clara Senior Center.  (a brief bio can be found below)

 

In October we will be learning Salsa.

 

Thanks to The Blue Sky Band for our excellent music at our 9-29 dance. 

Sam Tran will provide our DJ music the week next Tuesday, 10-6-2026, after the first dance lesson in Salsa(starting at 12:45 until 1:30 pm.)   We will then enjoy dancing from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

We had 55 attendees and 5 board members at our 9-29 TGA dance. 

Fred Fang taught our third and final Hustle lesson.

The October dance lessons will be Salsa taught by Bud Ayers.

 

The dance lessons are meant to be interactive, so don't hesitate to raise your hand and ask questions at any time during the lessons.

June             Foxtrot

July              Cha Cha

August         Rumba

September   Bachata 1 lesson on Sept 1, then Hustle for the remaining Sept lessons.

The new TGA dancing schedule is as follows:

12:45 pm to 1:30 pm:  Dance instruction   October lessons will be Salsa, Bud Ayers, instructor.

1:30 pm to 3:30 pm:  2 hours of dancing to the music of DJs and occasionally to live bands

 

A brief background about Bud Ayers, our new dance instructor (and past instructor at the Santa Clara Senior Center)

Albert “Bud” Ayers is a lecturer at San Jose State University where he teaches social dancing. He has been dancing since 1990 and has taught thousands the joy of dancing as well as the physical and social benefits. Bud truly believes that if more people danced the world would be a better place because dance is an expression of joy. What separates Bud from the other dance instructors are his words of wisdom or life lessons he incorporates at the end of each class. He inspires his students to take risks, accept failure and be better at communication, and understand that dance is a metaphor for life.

Lost and Found items are retained in the dance hall in the coat rack area to the left of the entry doors to the dance.  Also, some items can be claimed from the Santa Clara Senior Center front desk during their open hours:  M-W: 7 am-7pm; T-Th 7am-3pm; Sat: 8am-12pm  Sunday closed. 

 

NOTE: A blue coat and a black coat were left after our 9-1 Tuesday TGA dance.  They are on a coat rack just to the left of the double doors where you enter the dance hall.  You can pick up any time.

NOTE to all TGA Dancers:

Please be careful to not spill any liquids on the dance floor or in the seating areas.  Also do not allow any powder or other substances to be placed on the floor.

At TGA the dancers are very welcoming with a very pleasant social atmosphere.    You are welcome to bring a younger partner or instructor who would not normally meet SCSC minimum age requirements.  All are welcome.
